6th Annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving Party!

The kids and their carvings! The shadows kind of hinder the view.
Since we moved into this house we have carved pumpkins the week before Halloween. We usually try to make it a FHE event but this year Kent suggested we have friends join us SO it became a party instead. We have a potato bar, in which everyone brings a topping and Kenna always makes pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. They are YUMMY and consumed in seconds. This year we had a contest between the families and their carvings. It was great fun, especially for the kids. They loved it. My family won the Corny Carver-Shandler's Sponge Bob carving and Competitive Carver, Stormie and the three drawing witch. It was a perfect day, with perfect weather. We all had a great time! This year Kent's birthday fell on this weekend too, so we had a cake that nearly caught the garage on fire-just kidding and celebrated his birthday with our friends and family. Thanks for coming!

6th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party!

Our baby was not impressed with the pumpkin carving this year. Next year she will be all over it. Aunti Brooke was thrilled to take care of her while Kenna carved.
Connie was busy helping Kali.
Brett soon took over.
Jason taking pictures-Suprise, Suprise!

6th Annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving!

Go Stormie-She was trying to carve a witch and was very picky! We drew the face on three times. Brandi finally got it right for her and she carved it out.
Sayger carved all by himself this year and look at his masterpiece!
Shandler was set on Sponge Bob! Look how serious she was. You can see Jaylee is working hard too. They had mathching shirts-too cute!
Lori and Hailey carving in the backyard. The rest of the party was on the driveway. I think Lori was keeping hers a secret.

Pumpkin patch...

The pumpkin patch in Rupert by the high school is awesome. Dr. Johnson and his children work hard all summer for our enjoyment! We love the fun things he sets up every year for the kids. This one is new this year and of course Sayger had to try it out. I was not about the crawl into the mouth of Frankenstein, but he thought it was so cool!
Sayger has decided he is getting big guns like his dad and becoming a big boy so he can heft his own pumpkin to the car. He made it too! Looks pretty funny from this angle. The pumpkin is bigger than his head... and Sayger does have a big head for a little guy.
Stormie and mom! The kids say, "there are no pictures of you on the blog mom." For a reason... So I posed with Stormie as she contemplated what to do... take the pumpkin already picked and placed for my choosing or... should I cruise the entire field and find one out there. She chose the one already picked... it was pretty muddy and several of the pumpkins were soggy and squishy in places due to the freezing weather and the snow piled on them. Never to fear, we found several perfect pumpkins and are looking forward to our pumpkin carving night. It is becoming and annual event we all look forward to.

The Pumpkin Patch...

I can't believe how much my kids are growing! I wonder if this measurement chart is accurate.

Cute pose Norman!
I found the perfect pumpkin and I love it. He didn't wander to far to find this one, since the snow and freeze alot of the pumpkins were squishy. We checked all sides and decided this one was great.

Calling dad to share the news!

GONE...

Not one but two teeth came out today. All I can say is it is a good thing summer and the fair are over, Sayger would have no teeth for corn on the cob, one of his favorites. The front tooth was hanging by a thread and against his better judgement he let me pull it. As I was pulling the "snaggle" out I could see the lower left tooth tipping out, so I gently pulled on it too. To my surprise and Saygers it easily came out. I hope the tooth fairy is ready for two teeth under the pillow tonight. Dad is on a work trip(see the salmon pictures below) and he asks Sayger everyday if the tooth is gone yet. As soon as the tooth was placed in the baggy for safe keeping he just had to call his dad. They discussed the tooth for awhile and as you can see Sayger is quite pleased with himself.

The BIG one...Really!

Kent is working???? in Washington this week and Valmont hired Jason to do some photography for them but the best part of it all is one of the dealers offered to take the boys fishing while they were there. They started their day at 4:30 a.m. and had a fantastic time, both exhausted in the end. They said the fishing was incredible and they had a a great time, as you can see by the looks on their faces. I guess they won't be coming home with any stories about the "big one that got away" since they have sent pictures to Lori and I as proof. I'm glad their working hard! Rough jobs these two have Huh? I guess someone has to do it. Lori and I are so proud and we really are glad to see them having some fun.
On another note.... if there were fish that big in the river behind my house my children would never swim again.... and Kenna would ban the river from her entire family, she is always afraid something HUGE is brushing past her as she swims. How about one of these???

The beauty of Canada as we traveled into the park. We had to pull over and take this picture. The clouds just hanging around the peaks was awesome!

A mountain found in the Banff National Park in Canada. There is beauty all around the world. We were amazed at the beauty of Canada and all if offers.

This was the view from the hotel balcony in Banff.

How would this be for a vacation spot? This is the hotel in Banff. It services the skiers in the winter and the golfers, hikers and horse back riders in the summer.

This last weekend Kent and I went to Canada for a friend of Kent's wedding. They worked together at Valmont. Bill is a great guy and finally found a soul mate. We spent Saturday before the wedding in Banff National Park. It was absolutely gorgeous there. A beautiful castle style hotel surrounded by mountains and scenery. It was wonderful to see a scenic area so many people talk about. This picture is on the back balcony of the hotel. Check out the view!

I believe Kent and I have B-E-A beautiful children! These are some of the best school pictures we have had. Stormie-no braces-pretty smile. Shandler-a real smile-no cheesy grin. And the "snaggle hopper " has been documented. I love these this year!
